Your photos remind me of these horn speakers I took while holidaying in Korea in Dec 2017 :classic_biggrin:

Edit: To give you an idea of the size, it is more than 2m in height as the way it is sitting on the photo.

Back in the 90's we had a couple of customers who normally hung out in the store over by the top end Denon and Sansui and Sony tape decks suddenly announce they had made the move to VHS tape for their hifi sound recording. I must admit, the results were impressive and I'm sure the relative head vs tape speed helped (just like faster IPS helped on RtR decks I guess).

People have been playing with that for a long time, and some are just discovering it now (driving the prices of good VHS HiFI machines way up), the equivalent tape speed is on the order of 500+IPS if I recall correctly so tape surface noise is much less obvious, but the downside is the heads must be perfectly aligned or you hear a buzz.

Frequency range was at least 20-20k, 90db dynamic range, 70+db channel separation, 70+db SNR. at those specs were for early, average quality decks.

Perfectly set up and recorded on a good machine (with manual level controls!) a VHS audio recording could be better than most studio R2R machines.

The Esoteric will never give you an ounce of trouble, unlike the other one, I know what I would rather have.

SGR offered to paint my (upcoming) new speakers any automotive colour I wanted. I chose Porsche Jet Black Metallic because I have enough wood—walls, ceiling and furniture.

WOW amazing looking.

Also, I noticed since early 2000s, manufacturers are making more dual tones components with new colours like blue and orange e

A friend has a pair of these gentle giants. The epitome of 'straight wire with gain'. Invisible - except visually, of course.
