20 Years since the release of the Sony's SCD-1  Super Audio CD player. I have stuck with CD and Vinyl and don't plan on changing soon.  How many members  are spinning DVD-A and SACD.......

I use CD and SACD formats exclusively using an Esoteric K-05Xs SACD player.

Recently bought a range of PS Audio SACDs available on their website and would recommend them plus the SACD format  generally. CD playback on the K-05Xs is excellent as well so I'm a happy boy.

Cheers

I’ll probably get roasted for saying this but I love my cds and SACDs just for the ease of use couldn’t think of anything worse than changing a record. Not trying to offend anyone it’s just me. Currently spinning this.72CE9B33-802E-4FD5-BCCB-6120E6086B4B.thumb.jpeg.2e35ebca63371118593852234963c885.jpeg

This always puts a smile on my face and reminds me of when I was in primary school.

What is that curious looking thing around your amp pls?

Hi Willmax I’m pretty sure it’s an old milk crate. I’ve got a naughty little Burmese Cat who’s name is Hunter that loves to bite, scratch and touch all my Audio equipment, to save him burning his little paws I’ve put this crate around the amplifier.

Possibly last for tonight Michael Jackson Thriller, playing the Japan version on the right not sure there is much in them other than 1 second. More than happy to lend both out for a shootout would love to know your opinion .

Didn’t think I’d play another but here is one of my favourite albums to go to sleep too, Beck Sea Change.

How is this for something different! SACD

This lavish set documents a once-in-a lifetime concert dedicated to Jerusalem, with Jewish, Arab and Christian musicians boldly threading together musical traditions under the direction of Jordi Savall, the world's leading early music performer. Comprising two hybrid Super Audio CDs in a 400 page full-sized glossy hardback book.

Wow, Jerusalem looks something special.

Another SACD fan here.

I remember when they first came out. A colleague had an SACD of Another Side of Bob Dylan. I asked for a lend, so I could compare with my CD.

I managed to blind test myself. I played one disc, thought, yeah, that sounds good. I put the other disc in and hit play. Then I heard an intake of breath before track 1. In 20 years of owning that album I had never heard that. 'That's the SACD' I surmised. Never looked back.

If only all audio A/B comparisons were that conclusive!

I was going to post that I play SACDs and DVDAs very often but this is a stereo thread and I never listen to the stereo mixes. Multichannel only.

(My last listening session was all three Donald Fagen 5.1 DVDAs followed by Steely Dan’s DVDAs (all superb).

Nothing about stereo only.? Lets hear what you have.I collected most of my DVD-A when I had a full 5.1 system.I still enjoy the stereo mix in the DVD-A....

@HomerJ  has probably the biggest collection of multi channel music in Australia!

If you are expanding the criteria, you should include BDAs (yes, I know, limited catalogue!)

Including BDAs in a multi channel music would be worthy of its own thread.I always said you Listen to Stereo but Experience multi channel music .I had Vaf I66mk2 all round for the ultimate multi channel experience. I never found many people doing dedicated rooms apart from home theater. When I play DVD-A in Stereo I enjoy the mix which  can sound different to the CD or LP mix. ?

Not the biggest. I visited a fellow QuadraphonicQuad website member here in Melbourne a while back. He has his double garage converted into a music room. 3 walls filled with just about every multichannel release. Thousands of seventies quad LPs and Tapes plus just about every multichannel SACD, DVD-A and Blu-ray ever released. Surround encoded CDs too. You name it, he has it. Amazing collection! He also has a huge collection of vintage multichannel equipment

I’ve only got about 1600 MCH releases in my collection plus a further 600 of my own upmixes, some of which sound really fantastic.
