So, I haven't really been able to have a real "sit down" and put this thing through its paces as I wanted - Ive been so busy cleaning other people's records!!

Packaging - well packaged and arrived safe and sound. What I expected for a product of its price.

Unit looks nice and is compact, so any of you using Kallax shelves will love the form factor.

For me, it was all about how it performs versus my KLAudio machine. This is a hard comparison to do, so all I could do was take two of my own records (which Ive never cleaned and were acquired for no other reason than testing the effectiveness of these machines).

Test One - listen, then clean in HumminGuru first, listen then clean in KLAudio. With this test, the record was quieter first time with another similar sized drop in noise floor after the KLAudio clean.

Test Two - listen, then clean in KLAudio first, listen then clean in HumminGuru. With this test, the record was significantly quieter more so with the KLAudio, with perhaps a very subtle (if any) improvement after its time in the HumminGuru.

So, not as extensive yet a testing regime as I wouldve liked, but my findings are so far:-

The KLAudio is the better machine, BUT, you cant buy them anymore and they were 7-8 times the cost of the HumminGuru, so probably unfair comparison.

The HG is very quiet in comparison, in both cleaning and surprising drying. And the drying was perfect, so big thumbs up. This could almost be used while listening to music - the KLAudio, not so much (its loud!)

For the asking price, I would definitely recommend the HG over any of the RCM cleaners at a similar price point (Okki Nokki, Project etc), however, as someone who also uses a RCM, I find you do get the best of both worlds (Ultrasonic machines wont clean oil and grease off the surface of a record).

Thank you for the quick review, glad to hear it is quiet. Mine has shipped and should arrive next week, looking forward to comparing to my current DIY USC.

I would never use anything else but distilled water on its own.

Humminguru is releasing again for general sale on 18 November 8pm (China time GMT+8) according to their website.

Is it cop or drop?  What’s the general consensus on this record cleaning machine?

For the money it is hard to beat.

Mine arrived this morning.

First impressions are good. Nice printed colour manual is a rarity these days and appreciated. It's nicely put together and surprisingly compact.

I'll be giving it a go later to see how it performs and will report back 😃

Cleaned 15 records or so, I’d recommend it.

Pros

Quiet, except when the water is being pumped out, noisey when pumping air, but only lasts for 10 seconds.

Compact.

Seems to clean ok

Easy to clean

Filtering seems adequate

Comes with some replacement parts.

Cons

Distilled water is the recommended fluid, seems hard to get in Aus, using demineralised water, no cleaning fluid is recommended but I’m sure users will have their opinions of this online soon.

I’m not sure the 5 minute clean time is enough, but you can run multiple clean cycles.

The maximum 10 minute drying time doesn’t completely dry the record, but you can run another drying cycle, this would depend on room temperature and humidity.

The process of  refilling the top tank each time, but I’m getting use to the routine.

Funnily enough, if you want distilled water, it is easily available, just not well advertised - IGA carry it, either $1 or $2 for a 2L bottle (I can't remember if it were $2 each bottle or $2 for the two bottles I bought last time). I use it with my vacuum RCM.

Mine arrived this week.

I dun have my tt setup.

Dun intend to do any testing.

If I were to use it, I will wash only, then transfer to the spinner, sprinkle Singapore tap water over the washed record surface and spin until dry. Distilled water makes records sound dead.

Wow. 6am in NZ and it appears there’s nothing available.

Update:  Managed to order one. HKD3724 shipped to NZ via FEDEX.  Seems like good value.  I was considering Pro-ject VC-S2 which would have cost 50% more.  I thought it was worth a crack. Looking forward to my first RCM.

Each to their own but that is not my experience with distilled water and good ultrasonic machines.
