Building my new set of speaker wires i need some shrink wrap recommendations. i have some Ramm Amadeus 5 mk2 cables needing 8mm and 16mm shrink wrap.

there are so many to choose from but i want something decent as ive never used shrink wrap before.

thanks in advance.

Jaycar has both    Glued certainly is a stronger bond.    But if you get the correct size, the shrink normally is strong enough

I agree, never bothered to get glued.

I bought some of the small braided heat shrink from Jaycar to play around.  I comes in flattened form, so there are two creases in the 'tube' when you open it up.  These tend to go away as it shrinks around something round though.   I love the feel of it.  It feels like plastic-canvassy material, not the rubbery feel of normal heat shrink tube at all.

Also, as the 10mm tube just barely fits around the RCA plug I used, it doesn't need to shrink much.  I heated it a bit too much trying to get it to taper down to the much small cable, and it split a tiny bit (not visible in photo).    You can see it never shrunk right down.  Maybe better with thicker cable.

braided heat shrink looks interesting

Like all things I think you will need to experiment and find ways to use it that look neat.  I think the trick will be finding the diameter ratios it will accommodate and shrink to a neat covering on.  For example, maybe you could just shrink the ends onto the RCA plugs, and leave the middle as a flat sheath (unshrunk).

My son's comment was that he'd just paid $30 odd for a braided USB cable, and he could have covered his existing one with this for $6.  Not sure how neat it would be :)

The braided heatshrink looks nice, will check it out next time i'm in Jaycar.

There have been a few times when I've had concerns about heat shrink slipping with use, and not wanted to buy the glued heat shrink.  What I've done is to put ordinary glue stick adhesive on the parts of the cable near where the ends of the headshrink will be.  It's provided the extra friction to prevent any slipping.  Don't need glued heatshrink.
