There seems to be a world wide shortage of indented toroidal mounting washers around 90 to 100mm diameter.

RS can source them but they are overseas stock and take a while to get here.

Has anyone discovered a local Aussie source?

Thanks, Cheers Rob

Rob,

Accessories that cost cents are a problem, for there is no money in stocking them.

I myself am trying to locate a source that would sell me plugs that fit into empty Toslink sockets and no one stocks them. Socket with a matching dummy plug yes, but dummy plugs on their own - no.

I looked for you in WES, Altronics and Rockby and found none. ?

Thanks Roman.

That does seem to be the problem.

Maybe there is an alternative. I'll do some searching.

Rob, I have 2 @ 90mm you can have - plus 4x the rubber washers.

You just need to agree to repay me the postal charge involved in sending them to you.  And PM me your postal address.

Regards,

Andy

Hi Rob,

I also have a couple of spare 90mm units (black) with matching bolts and rubber washers.

Torema would be a good supply option, I can help out contacting them for pricing if needed.

Cheers,

Matt.

Hi Matt.

Thanks for the info and offer.

Bummer, I have ordered some from RS and they will be arriving tomorrow. I had a feeling I should have waited.

Completely off topic, but how do you find the Neat Iotas? They look like an interesting speaker.

Hi Matt.

My Neat Alphas are unlike any speakers I have encountered before and impossible to explain. They are NOT audiophile or super transparent but they have the ability to make you sit for hours listening to tracks you know well and in some cases thinking you are hearing different tracks ????

They have the ability to produce an immersive, audibly '3d image' of musical performances full of surprises. I believe this is partly to do with using the latest iteration of Chris Daly's StereoCoffee LDR preamp and a Hypex nCore amp.

Depending on the track being played, instruments seem to hover in sharply defined positions emerging from the sweet mids and bass on a wall to wall stage.

Interestingly, they do like to play quite loud and this is when I noticed that the drivers are cleverly crossed over and start to blend with each other forming a deeper sound stage.

Bass is there, but it is not until you listen to larger speakers that you realise you have been seduced into hearing more bass than is actually being reproduced. I believe Neat designers have a good grasp of psycho acoustics.

My only problem with them is that my room is 15 metre long room and too large to energise successfully without the tiny drivers struggling a bit.

To my mind they the perfect solution for smaller rooms or apartments. They need to be auditioned to be understood.

I have a lot of 60 to 70's vinyl and I am missing some important bass, so am doing a home audition with Neat SX3i stand mounters with isobaric 6.5 inch woofers. Bass is big, bold and beautiful plus plus being astoundingly accurate. They still have the enjoyment factor without being holographic.

Sorry this a bit of a waffle but all I really understand is whether what I am hearing gives me pleasure or not. Neat Alphas make me smile but so does good bass.

I normally buy these from RS who generally are pretty good at supplying them in a timely manner, however I have discovered that what happens to an order and how long it takes to get to the customer appears to be at the beck and call of the assigned courier.  I had a consignment of 90mm toroidal transformer plates go on a holiday and I finally received them 2 months after they were dispatched from RS' warehouse in NSW.  So much for overnight delivery. ?

When they finally arrived they were the cadmium plated version, not the black version I purchased.  Anyhow, despite the delayed project the lack of colour was remedied with a can of spray enamel paint. ?

RS certainly seem less reliable these days. Tracking seems to stop mid stream.

Phoning sends you offshore to some far off country where the operator is not only hard to understand but also speaks through a mask????

The only way I could get actual help was via their chat system which is only visible before you log in, which is strange.

Items from overseas are a dead loss at the moment. Maybe it is a COVID problem.

My plates will arrive this morning, so that's a good sign...I hope.

Yes, Rob your experiences are similar to mine.  I found the best way to get attention to orders that had gone astray was to email them.

As I said the inconsistencies seemed to be with the couriers.  My neoprene washers that were ordered at the same time as the mounting plates arrived the next day.  Meanwhile the mounting plates for reasons best known to RS were sent via a different courier took 2 months to get here.  Go figure the logic or rationale behind that.

I hope your parts turn up soon.

The courier’s route must have gone past Waikiki beach...
