Brad Houghton
After quite an absence from the domestic audio world, I'm enjoying the time for a return to enjoying my music collection. My 'journey' began back in 1976, when my best mate and I, both invested significantly (for a couple of 16yo working class kids) for systems that still demand a certain respect today, and my goal has been to refurbish/replace my original system as my starting point. My original system approx $1,200.00 in 1976: Sanyo TP 825DU Turntable (replaced) Shure V15iii Cartridge c/w VN35HE Stylus (stylus replaced) Pioneer SA-7500 Integrated Amplifier (refurbished) Pioneer CS-711A Speakers (replaced with CS-711 model & being refurbished) Pioneer SE-305 Headphones (currently sourcing a nice replacement) Additions after original purchase: Sansui LM-330 Speakers (currently refurbishing) - I swapped my Pioneer CS-711A's with these from my mate mentioned above TEAC A-400 Cassette Deck (currently sourcing a nice replacement) Pioneer TX-7500 Tuner (refurbished) Pioneer SG-9800 Equaliser (replaced/refurbished) Pioneer CT-F1000 Cassette Deck (refurbished) TEAC A-2300SX RTR (still going strong) DCM Time Windows 1 Speakers Sansui XR-Q7 mki Turntable (still going strong) Haffler 220 Power Amp (GWO, but, to be refurbished) Pioneer DT-540 Clock/Timer (still going strong) Pioneer PD-S703 CD Player (still going strong) Sony MDS-E52 Minidisc Recorder (still going strong) Over the years, as a Club & Event DJ, one came across many and varied components, and since retiring from the industry in 2014, I have collected a few pieces as well - some will stay, and sadly, many will go... Lot's to do, and even more to enjoy, now I have time on my hands.
Guest
Very nice - I have made a similar vintage journey myself, so ty for taking the time to detail all of that - I’m loving the ‘70s sound myself.
Brad Houghton
Well, there you have it !! I join Stereonet, place a couple of 'hello' posts, and find a pair of speakers that are pretty hard to come by in Oz - Pioneer CS-711A As mentioned in the above post, I've been looking for a pair, only to find Stereonet member patjoy, had a pair for sale - MWAH-HA-HA.... They're mine now WINNERS ARE GRINNERS! Totally stoked to have them at home, and hooked up... SWEET! Now to keep re-arranging my room... That's a nightmare Thanks Pat
