Hi all, recently had a Dual CS-515 repaired and looking at a set up for our lounge room.

Will need an Amp + phono stage if not inbuilt and (probably) bookshelf speakers. So, spending as little as possible within reason, please fire away with recommendations. Will mainly be used for the TT but the ability to use for Spotify occasionally would be good too, though not mandatory.

For reference, current set up in other room is a stanton st 150 with ortofon red through a cheap eBay phono stage and pioneer vsx amp with Whatmough Audiolabs speakers, far from a high end set up but sounds good to me so happy in that kind of ballpark.

Planning to go and look at a set of Elac Debut 2.0 b52 and a cambridge axa 35.

Anything else I should be considering in this price range? Doesn't solve the problem of being able to stream Spotify as well but can work on that later.

Any thoughts would be most welcome

Cheers

So what kind of budget are you thinking?

That set up would come in at around $1250ish, which is probably pushing the limits of what my wife will murder me for

@phil.spr Do you like a warm, neutral or lively sound? Have you heard Klipsch speakers?

Probably warm would be the answer. Though I don't have much to compare to other tha my whatmough magnum speakers in my other room. I've not heard klipsch.

My tastes are pretty eclectic too which probably doesn't help, could be tom waits or Fleetwood mac one day and Pantera or NOfX the next

Similar music tastes to me.. Just some 'new' good matches in that price range off the top of my head. Remember don't pay full RRP on anything. These are mostly on special anyway though.

That's awesome mate  thanks heaps! I'll start digging through the links in the morning

Sorry mate, haven't been able to get back to this. I'll check out what's around as far as something warmish sounding is when I get a chance.

No dramas mate, appreciate your help thus far. Think I'm getting some way to making a decision.

Thinking Rotel A10 amp and Elac debut 2.0 speakers. Both seem to review well and in the price range.

Just a bugger trying to make these decisions without being able to audition anything!
