xlr8or Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Could you please share some close up photos of the getter support and the number moulded between the pins? Initial impressions suggest Telefunken Ulm production late 1960’s E88CC’s. Can confirm if further photos are shared. 1
xlr8or Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Thanks for sharing the requested photos. It appears I was totally off with my initial guess. Just confirming it's a relabelled Tesla E88CC/6922 tube made in former Czechoslovakia on the 3rd day in the 40th week of 1983.

Actually Tesla was my thinking too after illiminating tungsram as my second best guess. Yes, no Telefunken diamond underneath. I wasn't sure if Phillips had a connection with Tesla but probably they owned it at some stage.. Thanks for your help, much appreciated! Oh.. it's labelled 6dj8 ecc88 bit you think it's a e88cc? That's good if it is, I believe they're a better tube.. Edited November 9, 2020 by JoelG

What time of the day was it made and what did the worker have for breakfast that day? Edited November 9, 2020 by Benjet

No connection between the 2 manufacturers other than Philips manufacturing in the Netherlands was done and dusted by then and as they had such a strong influence for several decades earlier they needed to find suitable replacements. However, in this specific case it appears the tube had some recent cosmetic white print applied to look authentic. There are 3 errors that are a dead give away: 1) 6DJ8/ECC88 tubes never had gold pins; 2) Philips were made in West Germany under the exclusivety of the Valvo brand in Hamburg; and, 3) West Germany labelling was only used exclusively by Telefunken to represent Ulm or Berlin manufacturing. The dead giveaway it's a Tesla tube is the rich bright red colour used at the base for the internal wire connections to the 9 tube pins. Edited November 9, 2020 by xlr8or 1

Likely to be AM production. Edited November 9, 2020 by xlr8or 1 2
