Bus_Boy Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Well i've been playing around today trying to get my TT set up. I've been watching some videos and as i can see i have done everything correctly but i am having a few issues. 1 - The arm returns on it's own, and i cannot get it to float above a record, as it keeps swinging back on me. 2- The cueing lever drops down slowly on it's own. If i lift it up after about 10 seconds it is back down again. Please help me !!
CraigC Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 You have to persist check for level before the arm starts to swing. Don't be tempted to use any anti skate. It may be easier with the platter and belt removed. The cue lever should remain where it is put when fully raised.

Hergest Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 For leveling the arm, every Rega tonearm i've had has had a certain amount of antiskate always on which makes it nigh on impossible to get the arm to float properly without it swinging back in. A cheap balance though will solve the problem. Set the vtf to the weight you require and then adjust the counterweight until the scales balance which will give you the same result as balancing the arm and then dialing in the vtf. As for the cueing lever, i've not come across that problem before. The arm lift is adjustable though with a tiny allen key so by raising or lowering the arm lift so the cueing lever will rise higher past the point at where it wants to drop down should solve the issue.
Anthony John Colbert Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 i seem to remember an article somewhere about twist in the armtube wiring causing the anti-skating effect, my planar 3 does it a little with the anti-skating defeated but it stops roughly in the middle of the record. I hold the bearing carrier gently at the bottomwhen im setting the float so it doesnt swing about
