beetle Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Is available from Burning Shed. Limited stock. The special edition DVD-V is also available. Limit of one per customer.
Dr X Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Yeah I've got the standard edition on the way which actually has some extra tracks and some other goodies that apprently the special edition does not have. http://www.burningshed.com/store/porcupinetree/
hired goon Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 G'day, I've already got the DVD-A ... cost me $1 (they say) ... will have to have a listen one day. --Geoff
mondie Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 This thread prompted me to sample some PT on Grooveshark and l am really digging it. Think l might grab a couple of LP's, thinking Signify and The Incident, any others that are worth grabbing from this lot: http://www.burningshed.com/store/porcupinetree/collection/93/ Cheers, mondie
RockandorRoll Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Deadwing is a favourite, In Abesntia also has some good track
Guest Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Does the DVDA have a hi res 2 channel option, or is it only 5.1?
Dr X Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 It has a 2 channel track Bear. All of PT's DVD Audio releases seem to.
beetle Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 That didn't take long. Both versions of Deadwing now out of stock. It's the quick or the dead it seems. I'm glad I ordered mine. Just need to get In Absentia on DVD-A and I'll have them all. mondie, Signify is one of my favourites.
mondie Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Thanks for this thread beetle, while l dithered for too long and missed out on the discs you started the thread for, l did order 3 LP's today - Signify, The Incident and Lightbulb sun. The samples l listened to were intriguing so keen to hear the full albums. Cheers, mondie
Craigandkim Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 All of their albums presented on DVD-A are of extremely high quality. Like Floyd their music suits multi-channel surround.
patjoy Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Thanks for this thread beetle, while l dithered for too long and missed out on the discs you started the thread for, l did order 3 LP's today - Signify, The Incident and Lightbulb sun. PT's recordings are usually top notch.
mondie Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Pat, l will try these 3 and if they click go back for more, including those you mention. Thanks for the tip.
likwidsh0k Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 If you grab Blank Planet also get the bonus ep Nil Recurring, looks like the vinyl is a double lp which includes it, 4 great additional tracks. I would definitely have a listen to Deadwing, probably my favourite of many consistently brilliant albums. If you are digging PT I would have a listen to Riverside and OSI too, and something a bit heavier is Opeth's Blackwater Park which Steven Wilson, who is Porcupine Tree, collaborated on.
hired goon Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 G'day, Like Floyd their music suits multi-channel surround. ... and if you like Pink Floyd then you'll probably also enjoy The Sky Moves Sideways. ... and if you like trippy stuff like The Orb then you'll probably enjoy Voyage 34. --Geoff
progladyte Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I'll put my hand up for "Stupid Dream" as their best album. The opening track just blows my **** off.
Dr X Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I'll put my hand up for "Stupid Dream" as their best album. The opening track just blows my **** off. I agree and I think Deadwing might be my second favourite. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here is my favourite "epic" PT track.
Dr X Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 My standard edition arrived yesterday and I immediately ripped the 2 channel 24bit/96k track. Unfortunately it seems it's as dynamically compressed as the CD which while not terrible ain't great either. The three bonus tracks are pretty good.
beetle Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 Mine also arrived today. The 5.1 mix is far superior to the 2ch mix.
mondie Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Loving Fear of a black Planet which l have been streaming on Grooveshark. Got the double LP coming. Great band!
