Keith_W Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 You obviously took some time to construct this post which is why I did not automatically wipe it as I normally would. See the sticky up the top that says "WARNING - failure to read sticky = post deletion"? This means you! Please read the sticky and amend your post or you may find it is not there by this time tomorrow.

wolster Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I can just imagine some Queensland members checking bank account balances and thinking of reasons to explain this purchase to their partners ;-) Lovely system LW. Good luck with the sale.
hdo1 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 This IS awesome. Very hard to come by. I wish I could sell off some of my hifi gears quickly enough for them AND, of course, only with the blessings from the you-know-whom person. All the best with the sales. Hien.
wim Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Want. How can I make this happen...what can I sell. How on earth would I be able to get up there to transport them back again. Dammit...
Janjuggler Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Tis a long way from here to there, would definitely seriously consider if lived closer .... JJ
hdo1 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 If the you-know-whom person approved it, I would not mind to drive there to pick them up and back home on the same day. It is a shame they are available at the wrong time. H.
hdo1 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I'm interested and in Brisbane. Please pm me. Finally, someone is here to rescue us from this temptation. Seriously i was tempted to challenge the you-know-whom's authority for this system, and sort out the sales of the surlpus later. You got to hear this legendary Quads to believe it esp. these Quads appear on the photos are very well cared for. My ears are still ringing with the mesmerising sound of them over the last 20 plus years - a pair of Quads ESL driven by Audio Note amps through Gryphon silver cables, sourced by LP12 TT and MK 31 + 30 combo, and added by REL Studio sub - my friend still has them. I WILL have a system based around them one day. But a good well-cared-for pair of them does not come by easily. Good luck to whomever is going to be the new proud owner. H.
wim Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Gosh darn it... Inbetween getting the go-ahead from the CFO, and then organising finances, transport, and pickup Letterman came out of a three-year lurk and posted. Should have just hit the 'go' button immediately. Lostwax - I'm interested. Please let me know after talking with Letterman. Cheers.
letterman Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Sorry Wim. Been hibernating in a very cosy place. Cheers
lostwax Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 Will do Wim, Letterman is coming around for a demo tomorrow. Cheers
wim Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 You're ok Letterman - no hard feelings at all. And cheers Lostwax. Like HDO1 above - one day I'll land these speakers. Couple them with some decent supertweeters and you're set.
lostwax Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 ps , Although The siemens triple mica tubes are my absolute favourite the sylvania long plate 12ax7's are a real sleeper tube IMO..the reason I kept them as spares. I've owned and tried many of the big dollar mullards and telefunkens inc ecc803s box plate M8137 etc. and I can honestly say the sylvanias do everything just as good, if not better...One of the quietest well balanced ax7's around. The JHS designation was only given to tubes withstanding stringent military standards. If you have 12ax7's in your amp give them a go..can still be had at reasonably good prices.
