Chill3 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 So have my Yamaha GT 2000 all tuned and sounding great: After a fair bit of experimenting: sits on a Lack side table given that the TT weighs in at 32 kg + the natural inclination was to sit it on something equally solid and dense - but the light Lack seems to work better - bass in this set up is a good as I have ever heard - deep fast and full of natural timber - I think what is happening is the lack being so light but rigid resonates at higher frequency than the heavy TT thus acting like a very effective isolation filter. Lots of mat / weight experiments as well - settled on Oyaide and Brass centre - just tightens up the sound event more and give great space around each instrument. Over all producing by far the best sounds I have ever had in a front end some photos
Chill3 Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 And a few more
metal beat Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Excellent chill. I always felt you had great taste. DD tables and I see a pair of Sonus Faber speakers. What did you find the Oyaide mat did compared to the yammy rubber mat?. I am going to try out the Oyaide mat on the P3. Similar to the old saec metal mat of the 70's which still command high prices s/h
Chill3 Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Having just played some old favs not getting me back on a suspended belt drive any time soon, the bass is just soooo Much better I find the Oyaide " cleans up " the sound for want of a better way to describe it, it adds bass slam and definition, adds detail but no harshness, perhaps at first I though the sound was a bit lean, but then a small change to VTA and she is sweet as, it also seems to just add to all thoses DD strengts, played Ricky Lee Jones last night and it was like a new (better ) version No cheep, but very nice Only down side I no taking record on or off until the platter is 100% stopped Now off for some BB King
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted July 2, 2011 Volunteer Posted July 2, 2011 That TT looks awesome! Nice setup and if it's a step up from the 750 (which I'm loving btw) it's going to be sounding equally impressive
handy steel Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Really nice looking TT Chill, I just love the big Japanese Denon,Yamaha and Pioneer DD TT's. I have to get my self one, one of these days......A Denon DP 80 or the likes would do it.. Cheers
cheekyboy Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Terrific looking deck Chill and thanks for posting the pics. I'd like to have a listen to the Yamaha some day too, well done. Cheers, Keith
evil c Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 (edited) Yeah, nice looking deck Chill- similar arm to mine on my trusty old YPD-71. Used to run it with a Dynavector Karat 19A through a FRT3 SUT & it handled a Telarc 1812 fairly well!. Have been toying with putting it on here for sale but you never know when you'll need a spare deck & not sure i'd get enough to part with all the good memories:) Edited July 3, 2011 by evil c
