That would be the 6.5 gram one

Maybe you can post the best cartridges you have used with your arm DHT

I have more information for all to read regarding cartridge compliance & Tonearm/Cartridge capability

This in in plain English - http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/tonearmcartridge.html

Hey FR - this is a great tonearm and the one I run on my Technics SP10mkII. It comes from the era when manufacturers were pushing hard to create very light weight tonearms to match the high compliance carts of the day. I don't remember seeing a "NOS" 3009 so imagine you have quite a rarity here.

The traditional and probably best matching cart for these arms is the Shure V15 (later revisions are better) but it's getting harder and harder to find replacement styli for those classic carts. I run the Audio Technica AT150MLX on mine and it's a very good match (some would say the best current production MM around). If your ears are tuned to the majesty of MC carts I've read a fair few reports of people running the Denon 301 with this arm and loving the result.

There are some criticisms around the 3009's surrounding the knife-edge bearing. My understanding is if you choose a low compliance cart (like many MC's) the bearing can have some difficulties. If however you use it as intended with a high compliance cart it is a fantastic arm worthy of the reputation SME still has today.

It certainly is Mellow Fellow & thanks for your input, its a rare thing these days to have a classic NOS SME tone arm

Its keenly priced as most sellers are asking a similar price for used examples

This is the cartridge you are using & I was considering the same one before I had a design change of the plinth

In layman's terms, high compliance in a cartridge means that the needle section has a softer spring on it and may also travel further
