I'm looking for a CDP for under $1000.

The CDP must be in excellent condition, free from any marks, scratches ect. I would prefer (all though not nessacary) something a little different from the run of the mill NAD, CA, ect) something different, maybe rare, perhaps a little classy? :P

Here's where it get's interesting. I would like a digital input with the CDP's capability to double up as a stand alone CDP.

Alternatively a seperate dac for similar money, but it would have to be something really special.

Hi Bus_Boy, if the digital input is not essential, I've got a Consonance 2.2 Reference Mk2 CDP I'd let go under your price cap. Cost $2.1K July 2009, no marks/scratches and definitely not your standard black/silver box. Identical to the one in the following link except it's the previous model, so no digital input and the remote is silver coloured alloy. http://www.osbornloudspeakers.com.au/opera/cd.html

A choice of RCA or balanced inputs, as well as inbuilt volume control if needed.

It replaced a CA 640C and was a big improvement - only going because I've got the SACD bug.

Send me a PM if interested.

Hi BB, I have my Arcam CD17 on eBay with two days to go here:

It is in excellent condition, has a nice thick solid aluminum faceplate but again, this does not have a digital input. However, you could pick it up under your budget and have money left for a stand alone dac that will probably give you greater flexibility and multiple connection options.

I would spend the lot on a decent DAC and run the SB Touch and 542 (as transport) through it. Then, when funds allow, update the 542 to a decent transport (this will make a difference). Plenty of options at and up to your price point.

I'm going to give Quark's Consonance 2.2 Reference Mk2 a go.

Danter, the NAD spinner has been sold. I've got a few other things to sell so with that money i'll chase down a dac just for the SB to be used with. I don't think i'm really after a good transport, i need a good cdp as i only use my SB to stream and play music into another room. I'll post back when i calculate my budget for a dac and see what offers pop up.

I just thought i could have got lucky and got both in the one package. Oh well doesn't really matter.
