Guest sikm Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) I have a recently purchased Logitech Squeezebox Touch with which I am extremely happy. I have it connected to a small stereo system via RCA jacks and it all works, and sounds, well. However, I'd also like to use the Touch at my bedside and to do this I would, ideally, like a small relatively inexpensive device which is able to accept RCA input. I had thought that a small digital radio might work and am also considering a set of computer speakers, all I require is a 'dumb' player that can broadcast the signal from the Touch. The trouble I'm having is in finding a device to suit that can take RCA input, certainly I have seen Logitech speakers with RCA sockets but I don't really want to have 2 speakers and a sub woofer in the bedroom. As in all cases like this I'm sure there is a device out there that will suit however finding it is proving a problem. Any thought/suggestions will be gratefully accepted. Simon PS I forgot to say, for those who don't know the touch, that the Touch does have other outputs Digital Optical, Digital Coax and USB which might expand the options. Edited June 29, 2011 by sikm
Dr X Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Sorry if I'm missing something but couldn't you use the headphone out jack on the Touch into something like a pair of computer speakers?
Guest sikm Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks. Yep, that's also an option - one I hadn't thought of. Duh.
pete_mac Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 What's your budget and what size speakers can you live with? Something like the Behringer MS16, MS20 and MS40 is pretty decent for minimal dollars. Plenty of comparable options out there too.
Batty Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 At a tad over $400 inc delivery Coem Audio have these and they have a built in DAC. http://www.coemaudio.com.au/Loudspeakers/Book-Shelf-Loudspeakers/235/
Guest sikm Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 As I said, small and relatively inexpensive, bedside table for the sitting on of. The MS16 is a possibility but would be towards the top end of the price I wish to pay.

They usually have some pretty decent PC speaker set ups in 2.0 or 2.1 configs.
Batty Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Sorry, I thought the ones i pointed out were small and relatively inexpensive, oops guess I was wrong.
Guest sikm Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 $270 for the Squeezebox and only $400 for back-up speakers. Hmm.....
Batty Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) My SB cost me an extra $500 for the NAS :nana Edited June 29, 2011 by Batty
cmcook Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Squeezebox Boom? http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-squeezebox-boom.html
Guest sikm Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Once I 'discovered' that I could use the earphone jack then a small, reasonably priced ($34.95) pair of Logitech Z130 speakers have filled the bill. Thanks Dick Smith I can now doze off to a BBC play or a Talking Book. Simon
Teej Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Squeezebox Boom?http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-squeezebox-boom.html +1. While it certainly isn't "sonic nirvana" it does sound quite good - I have one of these in my room too, and they are great!
