Gee Emm Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I got this as the free weekly movie on Friday night. We watched it last night on the big screen. To cut it short, I wasn't expecting much. I have been bypassing this on the shelf for months. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. Yeah, a fair bit of it is completely unbelievable, but entertaining none the less. The only thing missing was the *** shot. I give this 4 wacks to the out head out of 5! Graham
houdinifangs Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I like the use of The Dickies in the sound track
bebop Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I love this film. This movie took me by complete surprised, never heard of it before I watched it. Watched it on a plane going to Singapore, watched it again on the way back from Singapore, and then bought the Blu-Ray when it came out.
unclemack Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I don't get why *** has to be ****. Are we so easily offended that *** is now off limits on the forum? On topic though, a terrific, smart, bold movie. Lots of fun. Cheers M
hired goon Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 G'day, I watched "Let Me In" the other night on Netflix ... it has Chloe Moritz (aka Hit Girl in Kick ***) as a ... well, you need to see it for yourself. Pretty decent horror flick. --Geoff
Guest Peter the Greek Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 My take on it: An average guy (Aaron Johnson) in an average school, from an average home decides to become a super hero. Problem is he’s not real good at it and gets his butt kicked first time round. That doesn’t deter him however and he soon becomes an internet sensation. He gets caught up with some nasty dudes and some real super heroes that can fight turn up and save the day – a young girl (Chloe Moretz )and her father (Nicolas Cage) Matthew Vaughn directed it and also helped write it. He does an alright job, it starts out well, massively subsides in the middle and then finishes with a bang. The acting is pretty ordinary and the story is average in parts. There are bullet proof kitchen cabinets and apparently you don’t get much short term damage from being beaten with knuckle dusters, baseball bats and clubs, but apart from that it’s ok. It is like a spoof on spiderman, mixed with kill bill and some crappy comedy (take your pick of any in the last 10 years). It is certainly watchable, and gets much better towards the end with some good one liners thrown in for good measure. I can’t say I’d watch it again however. 3 Stars
