Just to let you guys know that i have purchased the new Lampizator Transport. It is at Jaydens (Yoshio)house at the moment burning in. I will be leaving the unit there for a couple of weeks for Jayden to analyse and assess. so if any of you guys are interested in having a look or listen, give Jayden a call.

Unfortunately i will not be able to easily demo the unit once it arrives at my place for it will part of my bedroom headphone system. I make an exception if you are female and work at Spearment and Rhino( on the dance floor, not in the kitchen!) :)

Sorry for being a sceptic but I am always extremely worried when I read something like this:

"So I am able to beat sonically the dCs, CEC TL0, Esoteric NEO, Mephisto 1 and 2, SQB Touch, Accuphase 95 - meaning - all the world best transports I could compare it to"

This sentence tells everything about Ficus's ego and very little about actual quality of his transport.

I have sold the YBA, now using a Audio gd cd7 transport. So the Lampizator has its work cut out, it must beat the Audio Gd transport or else its going back.

Is there a trial period offered?

I don't know Decky, at least Lucas has extensive hands on experience of all the transports mentioned. It will be well worth a listen imho.

Decky, may I draw your attention to this: http://www.stereo.net.au/information/website_guidelines/

You may not denigrate the product of a competitor, nor use SNA to further business disputes. This includes questioning of design choices, pricing, or making any slurs of any kind. It does not matter if you think your answer is factual, e.g. "brand XXX has a very poor reliability record". Whilst it may be true, such statements are not allowed.

I have lost track of the number of times I have had to bring this to your attention.

Go read and make sure you understand the policy. Do it now!

Don't know if he's on the forum or not but it is a longstanding blanket rule.

I know the rule but theres other threads on this forum from small manufacturers that rubbish other sponsor & non sponsor products .

No objections to that - I would love to hear what people have to say about it. I never said anything pro or con his transport. I just tend to react when I come across any religious-like dogmatic statements about anything in this world. Say for example - "this is the best tasting apple in the world" - for me that statement kills all the bauty of this amazing place that we call Earth. It shrinks all its beauty to a black hole singularity of a momentary ego experience. At that moment I feel that sentence is trying to take all the apples of this world and put it in only one of them and to rob the humanity of experiencing all the apple diversity of this beautiful planet.

The basic concept has a lot going for it.

The SQB duet is a pretty compact PCB and offers galvanic isolation (from PC), I2S OP

that can be reclocked from VLN oscillators.

The rest is just a matter of implementation. I'm not completely sold on the tube OP

yet, it suggests his knowledge of digital is probably limited.

Regardless, if it sounds good so be it and good on him for trying something different.

I think the price is a bit high for the parts count inside.

Anyone else here had a play with the SQB duet?

cheers

I have one... one day if my practical electronics skills improve (I'm dangerous in a bad way with a soldering iron), I may give it the upgrade treatment.

Not completely sold on the interface/etc of the squeezeboxes.... Sure, it gets the playback off the PC... but I was expecting more (I hear the iphone apps are better though).

Re: digital through a tube ... I have read quite a bit about his approach here, and think it is good. Scope shots speak for themselves. What makes you say valve for such a signal is wrong? (Plenty signals way above audio frequencies go through valves)
