metamatics Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 My plinius 8150 was configured to a MM phono board , however my instruction booklet had a little bag stapled inside the book with MC transistors incase I wanted to convert . Problem is the transistor failed or were faulty (20 years old) as one channel had noise . So what I’m needing is a replacement of the transistors , factory spec , plinius don’t answer emails so I have no other option .. also needing a schematic outlay . Help
rockeater Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 This things do happen but not very often. Firstly get yourself one of those $25 ebay component testers and test all the transistors. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DTU1701-TFT-Screen-Display-Multi-functional-TFT-Transistor-Capacitance-Tester-XX/292575935308 Now knowing which leg is which, make sure they are put in right way round into the circuit. Then check out capacitors in the MC circuitry, for them being without voltage for years could have gone bad too. Good luck. 1
metamatics Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 The amp is with a technician... needing to source these critters ,but I’m not prepared to buy bulk transistors ..
stereo coffee Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) Pliius can be contacted here: http://www.pliniusaudio.com/site/contact the transistors Q18A and Q15A are NPN's they are available here: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/sanken/2SC4382/2SC4382-ND/3929372 The 8150 does not have a schematic at Hi Fi engine but is relatively straight forward to draw from the board you have.
