scuderia_nifty Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Looking for guidance / help please. Pulled my Meridian DVD 596 out of its box after about 10 years inactivity. It fired up ok and after a bit of persuasion, the tray opened on it's own. Inserted a DVD and after about 30 seconds the 'no disc' was displayed, tried it again a number of times and no joy. Did the same with a CD and similar results. Could hear the traditional whirring sounds and 'things' happening inside the casing but no joy! Searched the Meridian forum and only suggestion was to switch off power, wait a while and then try again. Tried this multiple times over the weekend and same result - no disc. Has anyone experienced similar or got any bright ideas to crank out some tunes or view some movies? Dodgy laser or other? Failing that, does anyone have contact details for someone in Melbourne that specialises in Meridian gear who could take a look. cheers Nev
Mr_Gimlet Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Probably the laser out of alignment. There's nothing really special about the drive side of the 596, any hifi repair place should be able to have a look. 1
