I recently bought this receiver amp, Deitron DSR-2222, from a Gumtree trader, not based on any particular audiophile knowledge, but more based on it's retro looks and appeal. It had a few problems normal for equipment of this age, scratchy pots, failed display panel bulbs etc, but my local electronics repairer sorted this out for me and now it works and sounds just fine. The FM stereo reception is just beautiful and rich, and with the panel lights glowing it is a nice piece to look at and listen to. However what I am more interested in is some details on the manufacturer. I can't find any online history for Deitron, and the only literature reference is from Electronics Australia magazine from Nov 1974. Do any forum members know anything about these amp/receivers or Deitron more generally? I am interested to find out, more, especially as the advertised address is at Kyle Bay in Sydney, which is just up the road from me. It seems to be a normal suburban house so I am intrigued about how this company operated. Any contributions from the forum members are gratefully received. Thank you.
