captain.j Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Item: Perreaux 250i Location: Newcastle Price: $4.5k Item Condition: perfect Reason for selling: Looking to go to separates Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This mighty single box amp pumps out more that the name suggests. In fact measurements by third party labs have it at 2x420W into 8ohm, 2x670W into 4ohm. It’s well designed and clever. Plenty of ins and outs, balanced and single ended, optical, coax, RS232, USB, on board DAC and Phono pre, and the pre or the power sections can be bypassed independently. The display and volume knob are a window into the computer controlled options with allow custom names to be given to inputs, remote buttons to be assigned etc etc. Very clever stuff and did I mention grunty? I’ve recently purchased a separate preamp and am using the Perreaux in power amp mode. There’s a lot of capability going unused here so probably best to give it a new home. I’m the first owner, originally purchased from Cleff HiFi in Melbourne. I have the original box and remote. The new facelift version of the 250i, the 255i retails for $10k with the optional dac and phono modules. Can freight at purchaser’s expense or deliver as far as Sydney. I’ll throw in an IsoTek Premier power cable for the lucky new owner too, just because I’m that sort of guy. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved. JukKluk2 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 As one who spent over 30 years with separate pre/power amps, I think it's worth pointing out that the many (good) reasons for going to a two box solution back then may not be valid still in this day and age. Certainly, after a price point you will get better performance, at a commensurately higher price, but good value/performance level integrateds have begun to spring up all over the place. I don't know what set up you have in mind but I would recommend that you get it into your current system, if you can, and compare the new to the existing. A mate of mine swapped this Perreaux into his system to replace over $20k's worth of Naim gear and he hasn't looked back. 6

I guess the trick is to buy well so if I decide the Perreaux is worth holding onto I could move the replacement on easily and without too much loss. I certainly can’t really fault it as a power amp but I’m just one of those people who likes to mix it up occasionally. Got my eye on a class A machine for a change, but you’re right, it will still me back some serious cash.
