Asking for some suggestions to isolate 120kg speakers on timber floorboards.
Has anyone found a decent solution?

Coupling is generally a better solution than isolating. The traditional coupling solution is to use spikes.

Don’t I want to de-couple?

I'm in the isolate camp, the coupling camp is a bit too intimate for me :D

Maybe try some thick Bamboo boards with the spiked speakers on those, with the White's anti-vibration blocks under the thick Bamboo boards.

Yes, this is what I usually recommend, as it works well every time I implement it regardless of whether the floors are wood or concrete.

No you dill. I was wondering what the floor is sitting on construction wise, bearers& joists if it's a timber floor and what kind of airspace you have under the bearers. Does the floor bounce as you walk over it or is it rigid. Is it a polished timber floor or a carpeted underlay floor the speakers are going to be resting on or the horror of a tiled floor laid on a timber floor.

Oh I see. About a foot underneath the floor board. Just polished timber. Little bit of give. I just get a boom and this also invades the walls a bit. The SVS sub is isolated and made a great improvement

What about those isoacoustics Gaia things or the svs subwoofer footers - not sure if they come graded for such weight tho?

Grizzly might be able to make something for you ?

@Marc was talking about them the other day at @evil c’s place
I couldn’t seem to see any that would take that weight, unless I was to use a lot of them.
I’ll look deeper into it

Who’s the best to order through @Marc

I noticed Selby has 20% off on Isoacoustics atm. :)

They’d probably need to order Titans in though.

No, you want to couple. Speaker manufacturers sell their speakers with spikes, not de-coupling devices.

Have you ever tried decoupling/isolating?

Couple of acrow props and you'll be right. I did this when I used to rent

The house wasn't built in underneath so I had free range. Fixed my turntable right up

Big $$ for the Iso acoustics, gotta be dedicated but ultimately a very effective product from what I've heard!

While you're buying your mighty Titans, grab a couple of sets of Gaia 1's for your ol mate evil !,(birthday soon) ?

I've got Gaia's under my Spatials which are not in the same weight division as your JBL's, but they were a marked improvement over the rubber feet the speakers came with, and the Herbies sliders I had in between. I'm on a floating floor over a slab and still worth it. I'd suspect the Gaia's on a timber floor would be even more impressive.

Perhaps it might be worth trying some of the cheap Bunnings vibration pads first though, just o see if it improves things

Mine too! I’ll buy yours and you buy mine ?

Herbies have a range of option for not much money. In my experience its better to decouple on a suspended wood floor and better to use spikes on a concrete slab

I've experienced this A/B demo so many times now, in various locations, various systems, with different presenters (including our own show). It's just an absolute no-brainer.
