This preamp needs no full introduction as it is one of the best tube dht preamps you can buy for its money so I’ll jump straight into the specifics. I’m the 3rd owner, the unit has had some TLC done to it. All resistors changed on the CCS boards, HT PSU etc where necessary. The cheap crappy CCS trimpots have been changed with US made Precision 10 turn 1k pots so forget about jumpy measurements with the default pots which are inaccurate. All electrolytic capacitors bypassed with poly and metalised films where necessary. Some boards cleaned up a bit but I’ll still be adding some final touches to it today (mainly just dressing it up and cleaning the internals).

Lovely dht sound. Dead quiet.

The Tramp 2 comes with a pair Of Sylvania 45’s, 2 x 5U4G rectifiers and 2 x 6AS7G tubes. Also comes with original remote.

Photos: Will upload more photos when I’am home today. Only have pictures of the internals at the moment.01F2E396-189D-4009-BA4E-45A83E7EE478.thumb.jpeg.45092a019b1b8b39642de3a934da93d7.jpegFC70F882-E645-469F-B4CE-CE519B92CDF1.thumb.jpeg.154385132c4a204fc0477f9857aac6b5.jpeg366FAE46-E1B6-4EDD-98E1-164BF4FD8A11.thumb.jpeg.54ccc040fd228f1f8d86ba75e7f80e8e.jpeg

Hi there, I’m interested in your Tram mk2, nice preamp, these are rated as being very good. Please could you tell me a little about what work has been done on it, How does it differ from stock? The large black  10uF 630v Obligato premium Caps look a little stressed.

There seem to be a lot of changes to the power supply and regulators by other owners mentioned online, I think a batch of units had issues running 2a3s due to heatsinks, latterly the Rod Coleman regulators are often recommended.

I live in Scotland, how Much would it cost to have it sent here?

Thanks for your time, good luck with the sale, all the best, yours Kev.

Done by myself. I'm a qualified EE, so all safety checks have been performed, but the previous builder Decky has done a fine enough job for a non necessary complete overhaul.

Thanks for the further info F18. If you want to send the unit to the uk and can get me a price then I’d be very interested in buying the Tram mk2. Let me know what you think and we can get something sorted out. Thanks, all the best, yours Kev.

I’ve highlighted a few in my original post.

The film caps in the PSU is fine they look like that because they originally had white labels which have since fallen off and I’ve tried to clean as much of the dried residue as possible without wiping off the rating label of the capacitors.

No mods have been done to the regulators the LV/HV psu board is revision 1.02 different to the original in the first batches of the Tram kit. The design overall is the same except the later boards (used here) feature a slightly revised layout.

This Tram has the Coleman heater regulators installed and sinked appropriately to the inner sides of the chassis for heat dissipation. It stays lukewarm at most but not burning hot. Also depends on your ambient temperature as well as well as the 6AS7 super mu follower and the rectifier tubes being utilised as they put off some heat.

Unfortunately I’d like to keep this one domestic in terms of post/pickup. There is just too much stuff that can go wrong with shipping this to other side of the world. You’d be looking at a 25kg packed double padded sturdy box do shipping won’t be cheap with insurance and sign on delivery and full tracking.

Thanks very much for the detailed reply, it’s a lovely preamp. I understand your reluctance regards international delivery, good luck with the sale, someone is in for a treat. All the best, yours Kev.
