StereoInOz Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I have a set of vintage Excalibur's and they have spike holes pre-drilled and threaded, but I have no clue what the screw type is or dspecificaton so I can order the right spikes for them. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Dalspec Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 I've messed around with spikes and feet in a lot of speakers and stands. The most common sizes I've seen have been M6, M8 and 1/4 inch. These are typically used where the threaded receptacle is steel. eg nutsert in timber or a steel frame/base that has a threaded section or nut welded to it. If you've got a big collection of bolts you can gently try a few until you find one that fits. Once you find the right one, take it along to Bunnings. Attached to one of the pillars in the bolt section, you'll find a rack with a whole lot of labelled nuts and bolts mounted to it. Try your bolt in the nuts until you find the right one. Bingo, you now have the pitch/thread of the spikes you need to order. Hope it helps. 1
