I can remember purchasing Pink Floyd's The Wall for $10 new, which as a percentage of my pay at that time is still roughly equivalent to purchasing it new, as a percentage of the job position I held is being paid now.

 

The price of 'used' LPs is another story and has soared by 500+% in the past 5+ years, I can remember seeing many 80s albums selling for $2-5 in OP shops, and even they are selling most from $10+, and are in pretty poor condition.

Indeed.  I don’t mind paying a bit more for a very good/near mint copy, but they are selling shitte that could not even be played anymore for rip off prices.

Price stickers from mid 80s albums showed I paid $10-$20 / LP. Inflation has tripled which equates roughly to the current price of albums. 

 

The Oz Peso is causing a lot of the current pricing issues, but setting aside special editions and audiophile recordings, standard pricing ain’t too bad.
