Methodman81 Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 Hi everyone I’ve searched the forums and I can’t seem to find an All in One product to use that would take advantage of the better quality audio offered by Tidal HiFi App. Is this correct? If it is what is the easiest way to go about it for a streaming newbie like myself? Thanks
gibbo9000 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Hi There Can you be a little more specific on how All in One you mean? Do you mean something that will log into Tidal on one side (via WiFi or Ethernet), and on the other give a line output to and existing amplifier, or should it be amplifier as well? Any thoughts on how much available to spend? That may help focus in on possible options.. Gibbo

By the looks of things it’s going to be at least 1k. Sorry i’m bad at explaining myself.
gibbo9000 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Yes, there are a number around $1k. I think the other question is whether you are happy yo use your phone / tablet as a controller (where you could look at some of the Yamaha components WXC-50 and NP-S303). I am assuming you don't just want to stream Tidal in HiFi / Master mode from a laptop through USB to a DAC?
H.E. Pennypacker Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Bluesound Node2 regularly available $400-$500 depending on condition.
Guest jakeyb77 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Raspberry Pi and DAC Hat. AKM chip. Just putting one of these together for the second system. $150.

I’d prefer not to go that route.

As you are likely picking up, there are many 'DIY' approaches that can take out much of the cost of a true 'All In One' unit. Pi / Hat solution is one, programs like Daphile running on a low cost NUC PC with low cost DAC are another. There are ways of adding a local screen to Pi style solutions, but they are all easier (or rely on) using a tablet or phone as a controller. Lots of experience on all those routes in these forums so take a look around and see what fits with your needs / skill / setup.

I ended up going with a Bluesound Node 2, I got a good price so I grabbed one. Thanks everyone for your help 1
