Wood Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I want to change my current Monitor Audio BX2s that are my surrounds, to KEF Q150s or Q350s to better match my KEF front and centre speakers. The BX2s are front ported. The Q series bookshelves are rear ported. I understand the importance of giving speakers with a rear firing port some distance to the wall, but how much LF information is in surround channels to where it would be that noticeable? The absolute maximum distance I can give between the speakers and the wall is 80mm.
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 80mm should be fine I've seen recommended distances for 2ch rear ported speakers from 75mm. Your AVR generally crosses over at 80hz so you won't be getting any heavy bass signals going to those speakers anyway which in my understanding means you don't need to give as much space. 1
Guest Prof. Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I wouldn't be too concerned about it.. Providing you can have some clearance for the rear port, they shouldn't be a problem.. Also you don't get much bass in surrounds, so I don't think you will lose much if any..
Guest Prof. Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 HaHa..You beat me too it HI-FI Whipped !
