Asakusa Kitsune Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Thanks to the classifieds and the kind advice of others, I've slowly been building up my kit. Do far I have * Luxman SQ38u (Primary Amp) * Yamaha AS2100 (Secondary Amp) * Denafrips Ares II * Graham Audio Chartwell ls3/5 So as you can see, I've got quite the kit now. Still looking for a decent streamer though. I do see however Primare will soon release the NP5 which looks interesting. I'm now trying to find a decent hi fi rack (preferably wooden) and am struggling to find Australian makers that offer a decent rack at a reasonable price. Is anyone aware of any Australian makers? Or if you have one looking to sell, likewise, please shout out. Thanks
cafe67 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 @Grizzly makes racks here in oz ,. I think he is in qld. !not sure of any others, tho for the price some of the boutique brands charge you could get made by a local cabinet maker just as nice. Alternatively keep you eyes on the classifieds here or gumtree or the extrema brand racks sound by class A audio are good value 2

Completely custom to your spec and reasonably priced. Highly, highly recommended. Mine were very well packed and shipped interstate too, so that is not an issue. 1
warweary Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 I use a vaf platform 2 subwoofer and shelves made for it as my hifi rack.
THOMO Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 I have made some of these racks-both single and double width in beech and jarrah. This pair for Hellzigah who is a member here. Also the larger all jarrah one pictured but that would not flat pack.Shipping from WA might not be cheap. They would flat pack for shipping but some assembly using Allen keys and furniture bolts would be required. 2

Herbyj Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Hi The top large, Jarrah rack was custom made for me by Thomo. It is very well built and sounds great, if a rack can sound great? I'm in Melbourne and Thomo is near Perth so freight wasn't cheap but from memory it wasn't too outrageous. Thomo is great to deal with. I'd recommend him to anyone wanting a wooden rack. Herby
audiofeline Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 If you have basic woodworking skills, the TNT Audio FleXy Table has been made by many audio enthusiasts, and would be a cost-effective way of creating a quality DIY rack. https://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/flexye.html Buy decent wood (eg. Bamboo or hardwood ply, not MDF), Bunnings will cut it down to size for free. Then you can sand the cut lines, drill the holes for the rods, and apply surface finish. You can google to see the variety of designs and finishes that have been achieved with the plans.
