Love the Matt black, these things look tiny compared to the original phantoms though.

They are tiny when compared with my Golds.

Had the matte black Reactor 900 been available at the start of the year, I may have considered them.  I am a value for money person and the Reactor 900 is half the price and not that far behind in sound quality compared with the Golds.  Plus it would have saved me some grief. First comment from better half was "she prefer them in black!"    Black not yet available on premier range.

With respect, as much as you think you may have , I doubt a person with your ear would leave performance on the table for colour. I've never heard either but there's a significant gap on paper atleast it would appear, plus owning the best they offer also helps to cancel out an upgrade path, must be  comforting for you to know there isn't one, for now atleast!

 

But yes, much like your better half, I hold in high regard the appearance of my gear even when it's turned off! Crazy but even as I plot my next speaker upgrade, as much as sound comes first, how they look will be high on the priority list.

You know me too well !  I did use the word may!   From where I came from, it had to be the Golds, white not withstanding.

 

However, someone with a more limited budget  should consider a pair of Reactor 900. On paper, lower specs, but in practice, closer than expected to the Golds. And far cuter which will help with WAF!
