ENIGMA Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Hi everyone, just wanted to share my recent experience with nearly 60 year old amplifiers and a directly heated triode preamp. I am currently running them on a pair of Realistic Mach II speakers I bought new in 1986. The choice of speakers is a temporary one just to test everything and ended up being a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting it to work as the amps are 10 watts hooked up to inefficient speakers, it turns out the speakers are an easy load and worked fine. The TL 10,s have had some tweaks including the installation of chokes as per TL12 configuration. They. are mint for their age and romantic to look at. . The DHT preamp also proved a good match - low gain and single ended using 1930,s 112a radio tubes in a one stage directly heated triode mode. It has a rube rectifier and DC filament power supply for low noise. The result is is a glorious midrange of fatigue less sound, very detailed open and amazing range Edited October 8, 2019 by ENIGMA 5 1
