From Friday 18th to Sunday 20th importers and manufacturers from all around Australia will be demonstrating their latest Hi Fi gear. Mark Thomsen from M8 Audio has come all the way from Queensland, to take the opportunity to once again present at the MAC. This time he has a new speaker based on the same style as the book shelf model. The Tower Maxwell features the same 29mm Beryllium flagship tweeter, but being a full blown 3 way it has its own dedicated 6.5" midrange driver and a brand new side mounted 9.5" long throw woofer. All the woodwork is done in-house using a state-of-the-art CNC router. The hand finished cabinet is made from cross laminated European birch veneer. Once again, Mark has teamed up with Ian Brown from Critical Sound, New Zealand. As the importer for the electronics, Ian will be explaining a number of features starting with the source unit, the EVO 432. This High- End Music server CD/DVD Ripper is powered by twin SBoosters power supplies, to provide separate DC rails for the Server and the High-End USB 3.0 interface. The CD ripper is a quality 2.5" drive suspended on a custom built platform which reduces microphonics. The unit can process any music file from CD, PCM 768kHz, DXD as well as DSD files, up to DSD256. A unique feature with EVO is the ability to adjust the pitch tuning from 415 through to 444Hz. DiDiT is a Dutch Audio manufacturer that has designed its own Class D amplifier called the HYPER-AMP212. Producing 100wpc into 8 Ohms the stereo amp is partnered with their upgraded digital Preamp, DAC212SEII. The new model now features double Headphone connection and a PRO 32-Bit SABRE chipset. All digital inputs are catered for, with particular attention to USB issues. With quality components from overseas matched to a home grown speaker, were in for another interesting night of High Fidelity. Nick Karayanis, Program Co-Ordinator.
