Anyone out there got a spare Emission Labs 5u4g valve? 

Would love to try one in my Weston Acoustics Amp.

I don't recommend the EML 5u4g, they are microphonic and ring in a lot of psu solutions I've tried them in. 

 

For around the same money get a u52.

horses for courses... i have tried eml 5u4g and had 2 GEC U52's and personally the u52's were so overrated.

Personally I'd say all expensive rectifier tubes are overrated and make little to no difference in a good ps. I'd pick a rca or sylvania Jan mill spec rectifier rated for 7000 hrs and above for $40 over any fancy u52 or similar rectifiers and I own about a dozen branded u52's. 

 

The biggest issue with EML tubes is reliability.

So true.  Even the Svetlana russian one's (black plates) for $40 are as good.
