doubleaitch Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 (edited) Just bought the Pro-Ject Record Cleaning machine. WOW. What a sensational experience. Initially I thought a bit pricey but call the guys a Vinyl Revival in Melbourne for a deal. The difference in vinyl before and after is ... well.... words fail me. I have 40 year old vinyl which has partied hard - I mean cold chisel, angels etc which never saw a sober party or a gentle hand and some I thought were beyond resurrection. After a simple spin on the new Pro-Ject cleaner it is unbelievable how clear they sound. Most of the scratches I guess you see on a vinyl record are superficial and not deep enough to interfere with a good stylus. I can't recommend this one highly enough. If you have a decent collection or are interested in collecting second hand vinyl - make one of these your first purchase. You won't regret it. Look up youtube and find demos - they are accurate, believe me. Edited September 27, 2019 by doubleaitch 1

Now add an ultrasonic to your process if you really want to have your jaw drop. I use the Pro-Ject for cleaning the visible crud, and then a KL Audio for the super clean!
Ericcklau Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 Have you try the other way around? Ultrasonic first than vacuum?

The vacuum is a first level clean, gets all the schmootz off the surface and to some degree the grooves. The ultrasonic then super cleans the grooves. furthermore you don’t want gunk ending up in your ultrasonic bath, and the ultrasonic can’t clean grease or fingerprints etc - so the physical scrub does need to go first. astormsau Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 I use the same unit. I use Melody Mate as my fluid and found it a little better than the supplied fluid. Glad you are enjoying it [emoji322] 1
