Item Condition: 8/10

Extra Info:

This is a bit of a reluctant sale - I've bought a set of spendors as I found the B&Ws a little bright for my tastes in our current house (terrible room accoustically hard floors and windows all round) but I wanted to keep the B&Ws for home theatre duties as I don't have a matching centre for the spendors. It's a point lost on the missus though and I have lost the battle to keep both sets of speakers - so the B&Ws are up for grabs. They are a lot of speaker for the money and sounded great in my previous house.

They are in excellent condition in audio terms, they’ve never been abused and have always been driven with top end denon receivers. I would have said the cabinets were in very good to excellent condition too except I noticed when I just gave them a wipe over then for the photos that the plasti-dip type coating they have on the faces (the cabinets are a black ash timber look type veneer) but the fronts have this sort of soft almost rubber type surface - whatever it is, seems to have become a little tacky. I don't know if it just needs a clean with something or it's an aging thing. I was only using warm water with a hint of dishwashing liquid, didn't want to risk trying anything stronger. Anyway it doesn't really affect anything but that's why it looks a little patchy where I wiped it over. Not noticeable with the grills on. The centre has a different material so it's only on the 683s. Other than that, there's a little chip on the base of one of the floor stands and a scratch on the top of the centre (if it was standing vertically). I've tried to show this stuff in the photos, but any questions just ask.

I've owned the 683s since new (I have the original instructions, bi-wire links, carpet spikes etc but not the boxes), bought the centre not long after second hand to match so don't have paperwork/accessories for it.

Would strongly prefer to sell as a set. Can demonstrate if you're in the Port Macquarie area. Otherwise I'm willing to ship at your expense if you give guidance on how you want them packed and accept the risks - like I said I don't have the boxes.

Which Spendors did you get? I just bought a pair of A2s myself.

Nice - how are you finding them? I thought it might have been the ones on ebay atm, but just checked and they're a6's. Mine are s8e's so older but they just happened to come up locally - you don't get much hifi gear around here so thought I'd go for a listen and there was no chance I was leaving without them :)  i love the mellow sound, suits the sort of music i like and helps to negate some of the terrible room accoustics. Not sure if they'd be a little dull in the top-end in a carpetted+softly furnished room? Now I just need a nice amp to drive them, what are you using? I've become interested in the rega's but there are so many options....

I’ve been looking at the Naim Uniti series. Talking to Andrew at Audiofix he rates the pairing with the Uniti Star. But agree, so many options. Currently using a Cambridge Audio Minx Xi which I got for a bargain in the UK and drives them surprisingly well.

Still havent had enough time to properly assess the A2s as I’ve been away for work and now am on holiday.

I might be keen on the 683s if the price is right and I can sort out some way to get them to VIC.

Edit:  I'm out.    SWMBO dampened my enthusiasm.      GLWTS.
