i've got high spec p-4 balanced amps coming in this shipment parallel 300b's running into ultra high b c-cores. ultra high b interstage transformers preamp output transformers in the m-6 so lots of nice iron. i've been building some isolation platforms for the monoblocks and speaker x-overs so i can keep the speaker cable runs down to 80cms. looks good, used a veneer that looks like persian lamb skin, smoked black and karelian birch highlights.

they should work well.

the x-overs are in a chassis like your old dac-1 and sit in an enclosed space underneath the amp support which is suspended by tonneau shock cord loops ,36 in total. i can sit on top of it and it drops by 5 mm. there is a recess on the top for a slab of basalt for the amp to sit on, same as those bochhino platforms. will bring them to melbourne to use at the show. only problem is i need 6 mtr intrconnects.

Interesting list :)

Seems as if most of the Aussie speaker manufacturers are there - Aaron, SGR, VAF, Whatmough, Duntech/Orpheus, Equinox, Osborn, Richter. Notable: no LSK, Whise, Krix, or Adelaide Speakers.

Also seems as if no amp or TT manufacturers will be turning up - where is Continuum, Once Analog, Aspen, Halcro, Weston, Redgum, and SKA?

There is the usual line-up of dealers - PMG (i.e. WarwickF/Luckydog/Critter/Mondie), Audio Connection, Finn (i.e. guru), SoundLabs (i.e. Leon), and a few I haven't heard of.

The two biggest rooms (Yarra 1 and Yarra 2) are taken by SGR Audio and Hagemeyer Brands. Not sure who Hagemeyer are - a quick google shows that they import things like Polaroid, JVC, Omega, etc?

I will be going - flying from Sydney but I have my parents' home to stay and catch up them. It's a family visit with a side visit to the show - WAF.

Do Exhibitors give say a 5% percent discount for Show purchases?

Show discounts are a minimum of 25% by a mandatory regulation!!

Interesting Krix aren't there Keith, that's a surprise. As for the others you mention, once you factor in accommodation, shipping, print materials, and all the other things that add up, you're looking at $10k just to be there. Simply too expensive for the small boutique, direct to consumer, low volume, low margin businesses. I could go to Rocky Mountain Audiofest (including return airfares) and do a display there cheaper than in Melbourne - go figure!

DEQX aren't there either - they'll be in the US instead.

42 exhibitors? That list can't be complete.........can it?

i think they only count exhibitors as those who have paid the 25% deposit already, other might have intentions but haven't inked the cheque.

About what?

You'd be surprised of the politics between certain individuals.

See how it ends up when doors open.

Great list so far, i'm looking forward to it and there is one guy who told me he may be there that is not yet on the list.

No. No I wouldn't. Not one bit. :)

It is a strange industry at times, just wait for all the weird audiophiles to show up!

Oh crap, i think i'm one of them....Doh!

From the website:

"So with our two expert teams in place and the show nearly 2/3rds sold"

So, can anyone explain what "two expert teams" and the "nearly 2/3 sold" bits mean?

Cheers

Tony

Edit I think I understand, but I just want to make sure I've got it right - looks like they anticipate the numbers will expand by 20+ exhibitors - hope so.

But what about "two expert teams"?

Something else to note about the exhibitors. Number of distributors from NSW: 22. From Victoria: 13. From SA: 1. QLD: 1.

Seems as if the show is rather poorly supported by the home state. Also seems as if a number of prominent Victorian importers don't seem to be represented. Will wait and see.
