Ender1624705735 Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 After watching the "O' brother where art thou', I've been in the mood for Bluegrass & country music. Interestingly, on the movie "Deliverance" has a short Banjo and Guitar duel. Think of the fingerwork of Steve Vai, but only in this show, the finger work is twice as fast and rythm is easier to follow. Been listening to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band for a couple of nights already.

TOOL1624705741 Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Just a compilation disc, contains one of the best-sounding, liveliest Bach Concerto for Two Violins in D minor I have ever heard. Impeccably recorded as usual by Harmonia Mundi. $14
ysl Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Chai Qin Ming Ke - all time favourite. The recording is simply unbelievably good and real. Oldies.. and her voice is silky smooth with texture.

Yes. But I don't know how many of those can be borrowed out. Most of the pop/rock and jazz stuff are under 'reference', but I think some can be loaned out. Gotta go there to check it out. In any case, the CDs are not old old stuff. Some are quite new. In fact, some are VERY new (released this year etc.)

Don't bother abt their car CD player + headphones. Bring your own discman and pick up the disk to listen.

sebastiansong Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 For Everyone's INfo Esplanade Lending Music collection is restricted only to Classical and Operas All other genres be it soundtracks, jazz, rock, blues etc etc are all reference materails (but still good for you to test out cds especially those expensive box sets. Frankly speaking both Esplanade and the National Reference Library at Stamford Road stocks very extensive collection of music box sets though they might not have the best equipment to play the music)

TOOL1624705741 Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 Piano trio - piano, violin, cello. Great for relaxing, background music. Nice tunes. Watch out for this Florestan Trio. They are very good. If I'm not wrong, these recordings have SACD versions as well.
