fatmansings Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Popped into the demoroom in Parnell As they have a sale on and I see they have a range of MIT cables at about half price. These are the ones with speaker interface boxes incorporated into the cable. Anyway have any experience with these ? Can't borrow to demo as there needed for sale stock but as I need some cables soon I would not like to miss this opportunity if general opinion is that they are worth the $. I did some googling and found the usual reviews but I prefer good old kiwi no BS opinion personally. Thanks
NeilNZ Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Hi Paul, I have a customer that swears by MIT, and he has half a brain so I trust his ears. I suspect they might be quite system dependent, but if they're cheap enough, go for it.
Ernie1553552694 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 They're up there all right. But as I always say, a bargain ain't a bargain if it don't work. Which is where I echo Neil's sentiments that once you're up there, it's not about good, it's about compatibility.
... Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Don't let Neil's uneducated opinion's sway your decision. His trans-gender medication is once again causing confusion with the voice's in his head .As a user of MIT shotgun speaker and interconnect cable's I am very happy as well as 3 other people I know who use older type MIT shotgun cable to high end MIT oracle cable.Start at the shotgun range.Paul at Turned on Audio has some shotgun speaker cable in his secret stash.
NeilNZ Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I'm only transgender on Friday nights! I will return your crotchless G string later on.... But seriously, the MITs are a good cable worth the punt if the price is right.
Gainz Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 So we call you Shaneil tonight? I really hope you have avoided movember...
Omegaspeedy Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I used to have the old white hose pipe which was very good, now I have the bottom of the range 'off the reel' from Paul Turner which I have modified. All I can say is they have served me well and are unoffensive, open and natural. The two that I've owned might be seen by some as over smooth, but this possibly is a good trait on Full range single cone driver setups. The one I heard at Soundline years ago were top off the range and were mind blowingly good!! I'm a fan of MIT.
Phred1553552723 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Had some on demo ages ago The worse the gear was the better the MIT cables worked. They had the ability to lift lesser equipment a couple of rungs up the ladder Very little change on higher quality equipment (The interconnects had a far greater effect than the speaker cables.) (Unsure how they would affect some valve amps) Conclusion Very system specific They work and if they are cheap enough they are unlikely to do any harm.
fatmansings Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 thanks for the advice guys, I will take my gear down there and try a few out though I think I prefer the slinkys that John (mycenius) loaned me as they are proven to be a very good match for my preference of a clean detailed sound. Oh, and Neil I hope your not going to be wearing that getup when i drop in soon and pick up those polks
