Howlar Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I have bought a Samsung Series 6 LED which I plan to wall mount in our bedroom. I would like to be able to watch from My Sky HDi and the Oppo Blu-Ray in the bedroom so need to split the HDMI signals from these units between the two TV in the lounge and the one in the bedroom. I have a Samsung Series 6 LCD in the lounge. I have heard that splitters can be a bit temperamental due to the HDCP compliance so can anyone recommend a suitable HDMI splitter that would do this job? It appears it would need to be a minimum two input/two output. Cheers.
Tony Davey Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 give Murray from Rapolloav a holler (I think his username on here is Rapolloav ?) he will be best to advise you. Things to consider is the distance that the signal is expected to cover, in "general terms" the longer the distance, the better quality of gear (splitter / cable) that you will need. Actually, you have an Oppo, you probably have already dealt with him....
Gainz Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 The splitter I bought from jaycar 1 in, 2 out, works perfectly with two samsung lcds about 12 metres apart. $120 from memory.
MVT Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 good excuse to buy a receiver with dual HDMI? Unles you will be watching both Tv's at the same time. New Yamaha Aventage range looks nice (even though i dont sell it) http://www.yamahamusic.com.au/AVENTAGE/RXA3000/

Take a look here, they start from $45.00 for a 1x2 HDMI splitter, they really work well;). http://www.rapalloav.co.nz/category/27/65/hdmi---dvi/hdmi-splitter/

Cheers, Howlar

If it works you can make a donation:)

How do you think this one would work with my two Samsung TV's? As said, my main one is a Series 6 LCD that is about two years old and the bedroom TV is a new version Series 6 LED (UA32C6200). Cheers, Howlar
Gainz Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 The Rapollo AV splitters fare well on this forum - so probably a safe bet.

Cheers, Howlar Out of hundreds of HDMI splitters we sell 99% work perfectly. If there is ever an issue we work with the customer and resolve it with another brand to resolve any incompatibility issues.
Stuzzo1553552685 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 MySky HDi was a bit dodgy with HDMI/HDCP when it first came out but they have probably addressed that with a firmware upgrade or two. It seems pretty good now. The other thing to consider when splitting HDMI is resolutions. I assume both your TVs are 1080 res or can accept 1080p signals. Then you can just leave at that setting and don't have to keep changing res. or accept a poorer res. of one TV than it can output. That's not an issue with MySky anyway. The same goes for audio if you are using a receiver. The same audio stream goes to each display or receiver on the splitter. Unlikely to be much of a problem in real world situations but something to be aware of.

Both TV's are the same resolution so no issue there however the sound could be a problem. My receiver is a non-HDMI version so I have Sky connected via coaxial and the Oppo via analogue inputs. Based on my set-up, I would want the HDMI to the bedroom to carry sound but not in the main room. I wonder how/if this would work?
RapalloAV Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Its no problem if you set both sources to output analog and HDMI at the same time.
Howlar Posted November 8, 2010 Author Posted November 8, 2010 RapalloAV;138279 wrote: Its no problem if you set both sources to output analog and HDMI at the same time. Excellent - I take it that can apply from both the Oppo and My Sky?
RapalloAV Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Well the Oppo will output both HDMI and analog at the same time, you need to check that Sky will.
