Hooster Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 About 20 years ago a couple of friends and I went on a hi fi shop crawl. At that time I lived in a large European city and there were at least 3 hi fi shops there selling good equipment. Our plan was to take a CD around and listen to a track on it on the best system each shop had on display. One had big Infinity speakers and Nakamichi elecronics. My memory fails me with respect to the second. The third had Quad ESL63 speakers driven by a ML No.23 amp, a passive pre amp and a Quad CD player. That system stood head and shoulders above the other two we listened to, in fact it was probably outstanding in pretty much any context. I suspect this is not least due to the qualities of the No.23 amplifier and of course the Quad speakers. Does anyone here have eny experiences with the Mark Levinson No.23 that they can relate? I saw a write up here: http://www.tonepublications.com/MAGPDF/TA_026.pdf and it brought back some memories.
