Michael and members, the 'DBT/ABX' forum hasn't been used for a long time. I'm wondering with the increase in momentum and interest of our lovely black round stuff, we could create a section dedicated to 'Vinyl' which could have useful vinyl sticky's ie Techs, good vinyl sellers, set-up calculators etc...

If server room was a problem, get rid of the DBT/ABX forum and replace it with a Vinyl/Table forum

I think for those with an open mind it would be VERY popular.

Lets do it Michael:)

I'd be a go'er. Maybe we could have an alignment protractor as a sticky ? As an aside I've got a load of turntable set up stuff about, levels, electronic scales etc, speed strobes etc, which for the most part just sit in a box doing nothing. If anyone wanted a lend, I'm more than happy and I'm sure some of the other guys could have stuff that might be useful to me from time to time ? A frequency test CD would be handy, but not handy enough to buy one !!

You have my vote too!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current forum layout but a dedicated Vinyl Section would be fantastic!

I remember its been suggested to MJ before to have a subforum for digital music servers - and he was not overly receptive to the idea. However, I do think that having separate areas for Analog and Digital would be great - their two very different approaches, and if the big boss man would maybe revisit his thinking, I think it would add to the forum.

They might try. I can see them falling off the end of the Earth at some point. That's if they're still convinced that the world is still flat.

LOL.

it's all just music reproduction, isn't it?

Yep, a great idea.. Stereonet in OZ did this because us TT users were cluttering up the airwaves and drowning the digi's out:p, and they were getting a bit wrinkly about it!!.. so Vinyl users were given their own sandbox.......:D

Or , I floated the idea a while back about computer audio having a dedicated fora / forum , didnt go down too well , still , I own both a turntable and computer based system so either would be good , hmmm maybe both :)

Converting vinyl into hi-rez for eg. is getting more air.

(Troll alert:) Under ideas *plural* for the forum could be developing the search side so that 3 letter acronyms could be searched like DSD PS3 could be searched.

I think the name of the new vinyl section should be :

"You Can't Roll A Joint On An MP3....."

Yup , been doing this for a while now with varying degrees of success , a high rez vinyl rip done well is awesome, still it isnt easy and is a labour of love.

True dat!

The glass screen of an i-touch, which is basically a mirror, is good for all sorts of things. Morse code comes to mind.
