Has anyone else had bad or annoying experiences with vinyl sellers on TM?

My common complaints are:

1) I hit buy now and payed immediately, then sent an e-mail to seller who still hasn't communicated after two more e-mails requesting the status of sale.

This is the dude http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=1030468 and he might be getting another red face if he doesn't pull his finger out of his sphincter.

2) Hit buy now and was stalled by the seller for days then got an e-mail, "I've mis-placed this copy but don't worry, I have another copy arriving from the States next week"!! This was a major Wellington seller who also discounts CD's if you can read into that.

I find it bloody painful dealing with idiot's. At least there are some GOOD ones too like thehappyprince and zepplin007.

Not sure Michael but I would say that stationary supplies like Stationary warehouse could have them. The vinyl I bought arrived in them so maybe ask thehappyprince on TM where he gets them from.

Hi guys: Hynewoman is actually Dave from Pennylane. His shop just fell over (literally), so you might be nice and cut him some slack. FWIW I've bought vinyl off him and its all been in really nice cond, he tends to understate the condition.

Micheal: re packing boxes. How many you after, I've got loads. PM me if you like.

Regardless of his problems he is still trading and checking TM feedback rating page you can see if he has been on the computer which he has every day. He is just being rude by not responding to simple polite request. Even just a quick 'it's on the way' or 'sorry I haven't been in touch, I see your payment' would have been enough. If you can't run a business then don't take peoples money in the first place.

Good communication is essential for an online trader.

The thing that surprises me is how understanding buyers are when you explain to them why there is a holdup.

It's the not knowing that pisses people off (especially me).

Yes all it takes is communication. They got back late last night with 'Payment hasn't shown yet but we'll send it when it does'

5 days to clear an internet deposit? Checked deposit details from my end which is all correct so there is some piss taking and delay action from the other end.

My only two purchases out of this pay packet have been duds!

I've thrown out at least 50 of those in the last few months. I just ran out of storage space. Shame as they could be used quite a few times.

:) I agree! All I want to do is listen to what I bought without large delays or lies. If there was a problem I would be very understanding if it was communicated to me. I've learnt a good lesson. Stick to good traders that have been verified as good by word of mouth. This trader has a major attitude problem which I can't see changing anytime soon. Just check his negative feedback. He is never wrong in his own mind.

What goes around comes around. He will have more than his crumbling building to worry about when his creditability crumbles too!

Nice one, James - stick to your guns! :)

I've not had any real problems so far, but I always check a trader's feedback if I haven't used them before. Too many red faces and I don't bother.

yeah like theres nothing more important in the world than your japanese pressing of Norah Jones arriving a day late !! Actually I used to sell a bit of vinyl on Tm (and will do again when I'm retired and have the time), but its actually a real headache to list, package up, and post vinyl. Then you get some prat on yopur case because his payment went in yesterday, you posted his record this morning and he still hasnt got it by the weekend, even though he didnt say that he really needed it by the weekend.

Actually I'm not disagreeing with you, communication is the key, but I'm just saying that in all my dealings with Dave its been very straitforward no issues whatsoever, so maybe theres some other shit going on in his life. It does happen you know !!

Firstly. I'm not into Nora Jones!:)

Second, If your in the business of selling vinyl, you should be prepared to "List, package up, and post vinyl"! Especially if you are prepared to TAKE SOMEONES MONEY that easily.

Most people are reasonable when it comes to bad timing with weekends and public holidays. It's just tough luck if your payment doesn't show by a Wednesday otherwise expect a possible Monday delivery due to postal times. I am totally reasonable when it comes to delays as long as I know what going on.

I just got a very confused e-mail from his wife? And I'm not sure what going on but the wheels have definitely fallen off the wagon at there end. Maybe it will turn up next week but an e-mail last night said "payment hasn't showed, will send when it does" and just now an e-mail said "Sent on Wednesday, will check track and trace to see where it is" WTF!

Gidday Speedy,

I can understand your frustration with this but people who have literally had their livelihoods ripped out from underneath them here are under massive amounts of stress.

Maybe with the next one you can request the track and trace number be emailed to you? In the couple of back and forths I've had with postage to and from Oamaru (you know who you are) we've both sent T+T numbers with the correspondence so either can keep track and it certainly helps to know it's at least in transit.

In the meantime, settle back with a good tipple and enjoy the music you already have. Life is too short as it is.

Cheers, Shane.

I've dealt with the same seller as Omegaspeedy, with similar results; poor description, zero communication plus poor packaging of a high value item.

Not what you would expect from a professional record seller.

This was months before the quake so that can't be used as an excuse.

Post-quake I've bought off several Chch sellers with exemplary results.

As they say, once bitten, twice shy.

There's Japanese Norah Jones LPs ?

:)
