Hey guys,

Is the cheaper dmp-BD45 gonna be much different at all from the dmp-bd60 or 65? My main concerns are bitstreaming audio and DVD upscaling PQ. I do play quite a few CD's so would the 45 do a decent job am curerntly using my Denon DVD-1930 for CD and DVD playback

thanks

Mike

I'm not 100% sure, but you might find that the main difference between the 45 and 60 is that the 45 is only profile 1.1 - ie, basically, doesn't have bd-live. From what I've read, the 85 is a large step up in AV quality.

However, for dvd, I still use my 1930 as I prefer the PQ in preference to my 85.

(from the 91930) I have hdmi to the plasma, upscaled to 720p, and component to the projector which gives an acceptable picture.

I managed to get HDMI to the projector and the upscaled picture was very good.

Time to upgrade the TV Draken.

;)

I've also got a Denon DVD player, model 3910, and it looks great thru HDMI to my ancient Pioneer plasma. Not noticeably better than the BD80 though.

Back to the BD45;

It's a funny player, 2010 model but only Profile 1.1 as Panasonic left out the Ethernet port.

Not much difference in performance compared with the BD60/65 but several steps behind the BD80/85.

If you want one player for movies and CD and don't want to totally blow the budget, then save for a BD85.
