Antipodes1553552706 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The VT range of ARC amps are famous for their muscular drive, solid images abd sweet mids/tops. The VT60 is the 50W version, and this one is an excellent example. Recently fully serviced and with over $1,000 of NOS valves installed a couple of months ago (and only used for a couple of weeks). I found my speakers liked the sound of 20W valves or solid state and the ballsyness of this 50W to be a little too much for what I like. I also had it up against amps retailing between $7k and $10k. I recently saw a reviewer highly recommend the VT60, adding that to match this amp for sound and build quality required about USD5k. They can go for as low as USD1k in the USA depending on condition. Given the valves in this one - NOS GE 6550A KT88 and NOS Amperex Bugleboy 6922 - this one is cheap at $2,000, but I will accept less for a quick sale. Make me an offer - I make quick decisions. You won't regret buying a tube amp with this standard of build quality.
Antipodes1553552706 Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 OOPS - how did the word KT88 get in there - they are NOS GE 6550A tubes!
