Matt791553552753 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Like a lot of people have probably already discovered, I have just realized that I can't split my mysky signal with just a standard powerpass splitter. Is there any way, other than getting multiroom, that I can split the signal from my mysky decoder??
Ariki Padlie Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I use one of these to split mysky simultaneously to an LCD TV and a Projector. Works great. http://www.rapalloav.co.nz/product/2130/Specials---Clearance-Lines/
SpongyP Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I use this one http://www.rapalloav.co.nz/product/1759/HDMI-Splitter/HDMI-Splitter/ also works great. Projector run is 15m using 26AWG HDMI cable.
blackspot1553552708 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I use a similar splitter and run a wire through to the master bedroom, where I have an LCD. I have a RF remote extender at the sky box and run it through the mysky remote which works extremely well so I have not only connectivity but aslo control in both rooms The remote extender is a Signet XRay ST 860 from signal technology

tkr001 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I use a vu+ Duo http://vuplus.com/?page_id=4 you can stream anywhere on your network with it. Both live TV and recordings that is.
Matt791553552753 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Hey Daver, No I'm just wanting to split the signal. The tv's that I want to run to are older models that don't have HDMI inputs.
daver1553552689 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I take your MySky is the new one without RF out? If so I'm guessing you want an RF feed to your older TV or maybe some means of getting video + audio to it (assuming they have AV in)..
Matt791553552753 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Bang on the money Daver. That's pretty much what I'm after.
Stuzzo1553552685 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Sky used to supply RF modulators to those with MySky who needed one, free even. Not sure if they still do. Otherwise you can get one from somewhere like Jaycar.

There's the RF modulator idea above or (assuming you have AV in):- Video transmitters (also from Jaycar) which will give you stereo audio, video and remote control as well. Downside is they are a pain and perhaps best if you just have one or two walls to go thru and not to far to travel. If it crosses a hall be prepared to lose signal if someone walks through the line of the signal. 5.8gHz are best ones here as opposed to 2.4gHz which is used by everything under the sun. Video balum which will send both audio and video over ethernet cable. Never see one of these in use so don't know impact on the video signal over a long distance.
Matt791553552753 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Cheers for the advice Daver and Stuzzo. I'll give an RF modulator a nudge and let you know how I get on.
Matt791553552753 Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Well the RF modulator seems to work fine. Well almost. I split the signal to two tv's. One is working fine, good picture and sound. The other has a good picture but no sound, just static. It's an older model tv so I'm wondering if it's the tv thats causing that rather than anything else.
little blue penguin Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Are both the TV's NZ Spec? If one of them is UK spec then that might explain the no sound as they have the sound on a different offset freq.
Matt791553552753 Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 That's a good point. I'll look into that one.
Matt791553552753 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 I've acquired another TV and it's all working fine. Cheers to everyone for your advice on getting this working. Much appreciated.
