There is a pair on Trademe...

had no reserve on 7500 before but then the owner added a reserve over it...

Would it be from someone on this site?

Yep. Sorry.

I had a crisis of confidence; for me to sell these babies it's got to be really worth it so I just had to put a reserve on.

I don't mean to dick anyone around but I obviously don't want to make a mistake and have them sell for less that what they are worth to me...

So if they do get bids and not reach reserve then I'll look at offering again with no reserve.

This is where my crisis of confidence comes in!

I really don't know just yet. But I've had a chat with various peeps and all say I'm mad even considering moving them on... They are a serious speaker and I'm fortunate to own a pair.

I'm eyeing up Naim Ovators and Harbeth. The M4.0(?) Harbeth is the same cost as the Naim S600 so it could be a shoot out with these two.

Ultimately, I'd go for ATC active towers. But they are out of my league unless a set 2nd-hand appear....

Listen to the M4.0 at JP's place and even the low-end Pass Labs INT-150 can drive it well, didn't hear any "color" or "sound of cabinet" the SHL5 normally have.

Not enough cash though...

My brother owns a pair of proac 3.8 and they were a pleasure to listen to...

every time the music is on didn't want to leave his place...

I'd imagine response 4 would be quite a step up from those...

got tinnitus: I remember you mentioned you got them off trademe for 7k years ago! what a bargain! I'd imagine you'd have to spend quite a lot more money for something better (or different)??

I should give you a kick for even thinking it. :D

Give them time to bed in with your new gear first.

Cheers, Shane.

You're welcome.

Pretty incredible shots, up to 36 months exposure !

I wouldn't have the patience for a project like that.

As one comment read, take that digital !

Morning Tin,

Well Frankly I'm not sure you are doing the right thing I've heard both the Alternatives you mention and the 5's you currently have on the market.

Properly setup and driven the Proacs will better the other two in not all but MOST departments in Playback.

If you have "Upgradeitis Nervosa" then so be it but for my two cents I'd

keep the venerable 5's.

I currently own Harbeths-- great products sublimely reserved but pleasing

The Naim units-- apart from being overpriced in Oz and NZ is also a fine

transducer but to me lack something-involvement in the moment.

Good Luck with the Auction anyway--even if I feel it'd a big mistake.

haha I doubt he will be that negotiable.

Anyone who loves the Proac style of presentation probably won't get on with Harbeths and vice versa.

As Des said, "sublimely reserved".
