Draken Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 So behind my AV unit my cables are rather bundled up and a little squashed everything is pluged in and tight however i'm just wondering if thats ok? are cables designed to be bent around a bit as i cant really avoid it without having my cabinet like 4 metres away from the wall  ? anyone else have the same thing ?
got tinnitus Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 It's not ideal having cables bent at right angles (especially video coax)....and try and avoid winding mains and audio cables up together. Apart from that, no major harm done in the context of your system. Mega hi-end gear/cables can be upset by not having cables 'dressed' nicely. Wanna post a photo of the rats nest?!
Draken Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 no right angles as such just gentle curves but curves non the less will post a photo up tomorrow!
Guest Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 With AV cables be careful about stress on the connectors. S-video, HDMI are useless and don't take much to pull out.
Draken Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 hmm ok cool. can anyone else post up some pics to of there cable's so i can see whats acceptable ? speaker cables are just so damn thick!

Locking HDMI cables, sounds like an opening in the market waiting to happen (HDMI 1.4a-L) Haha, I've got NAIM connectors on my NAIM cables ( poser ) Worst design ever, the amp is about 8cm high and the connectors are right angled pins into the amp so you have to immediately bend the cables 90 degrees so they don't lift the amp up off the shelf. What kind of idiot came up with that idea ? Possibly a very rich idiot who now has me marked for an unpleasant 'accident' ? Sedge.
bigburner Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 In my experience the biggest issue is keeping your power cables separate from your interconnects. Nigel.

I can see the right angle concept working at the speaker end but the amp output terminals are close to the shelf which fouls the cable exit....
