JohnN1553552709 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 The Player Music Store opened this week in Dunedin. 57 Vogel Street on the 2nd floor. At present no signage and quite hard to find. Has about 1000 used lps, a good jazz section, small amount of NZ, metal, alternative. Majority being A-Z of bit of everything. Records look to be in good condition (cleaned, put in new sleeves). Small amount of used CDs. He is also doing used musical gear (guitars/amps etc) and a bit of vintage HiFi (didn't really look at what it is, a few TTs, amps, speakers etc). Prices on the vinyl are a little erratic in places imo but well worth checking out. Most things seem to be in the $16-30 range. Nice dude running it, keen on expanding, lots to come out etc.
bretty_d Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Cheers....good info! So what are the other choices for vinyl.... Marbecks for new LP's...Tony R's in Port Chalmers...where else?
Papa Hemi Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Last time I was down I found a second hand store in South Dunedin, on King Edward Rd. It had quite an extensive range of albums, from less than $10 to quite a lot for some of the rarer stuff (VU etc). Well worth checking out.

Marbecks for new LP's...Tony R's in Port Chalmers...where else? Records Records is still open but a shadow of its former self since Roy sold it. A couple of places in South D with records. The only places I'll be checking frequently are Tony's and this new place. I saw a lot of good records at The Player but luckily for my wallet I already owned them! Did buy a nice Bats EP though.
bretty_d Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Records Records...hmmm....sadly I've been there twice since Roy sold it. And the last time I promised myself not to go back. Just yuk really.
