sparking11553552743 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Hi, Does someone have specs for their power transformer range? I need winding voltages / currents data for model S3949-PT4 thanks, JEFF
Owen Y Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Moby doesn't seem to be in the house... but I've got a very old ATC catalogue which does not mention model S3949, but does list a PT4 power TX: Prim: 230v Secs: 280/280v 60mA, 6.3v 2A, 5v 2A. Does that match up with the wires?
sparking11553552743 Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Yes, that matches up exactly Owen, thanks very much. I needed the current specs, esp for HT winding. regards, JEFF
Owen Y Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Gidday Jeff, Can you tell us about an interesting (valve) project that you have on hand?
sparking11553552743 Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Hi Owen, Hmmmm, just realised the email address Ive assigned to this forum is an old one I dont use anymore. It explains why I wasnt getting notifications about posts. Duh !!! Im presently refurbishing a Hallicrafters SX-28 communications receiver. It has 15 valves, is 34KG in weight. Circa 1942. Has a "hi-fi" output stage. 2 6V6s in push-pull, which is unusual. Heres a link to an article and pics of the beast in case you're curious. http://www.radioblvd.com/SX28Notes.html regards, JEFF
Owen Y Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Are you a memeber of the NZ Vintage Radio Soc.?... http://www.nzvrs.pl.net/ They have an extensive library & an extraordinary amount of member knowledge on such equipment.
sparking11553552743 Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Yes Im a member, and of our local radio preservation society. Valve based technology was a big part of my early career. Lots of retraining since those days, but still greatly admire and love valve-based gear, esp radio. JEFF
RdM again Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Hi Owen, May I please ask you to look at your old ATC catalogue again? (Sorry to trouble, but at least proof that old threads still exist!) Two transformers: One labelled PT80 ST224 I'm interested in the current rating, but nominal voltage would be good too. Blue primary, appears to be two red secondary 110V no load, and initially confusing, I thought a flex yellow would be HT center tap, but is evidently a 6.3V heater (thick wire, spaghetti) center tap. Second, I may have two of. One has a torn label, no visible markings, but is in a little chassis with a baseboard marked with various: 0-230, 0-6.3-12.6, 0-55-150, 0-25-50. Maybe good for heater & bias supplies, etc. The similar one with same coloured multiple secondary wires cut off very short, has a label simply stamped "9490" Also Auckland Transformer Co Ltd, 20 Eden Street Newmarket Thanks for any help! I've recently installed an old scanner, and intend to get some Beacon catalogue pages into a web-friendly format soon...
