dafman1553552676 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Anyone got this on blu-ray? I'm wondering whether it is worth upgrading my DVDs to Blu-ray. The prints for part 1 & 2 are pretty grainy anyway, so I imagine the quality difference will not be great? Would be great to get some feedback first hand. (part 3's a waste of space, so not really interested in quality gain for that).
Guest Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I've been looking at this too. A friend has the BD set and it trumps both the first DVD set and the "Coppola Restoration" set for pic and sound. The films don't look like modern releases though, there's a fair bit of grain but that only strengthenss the filmic presentation. Unfortunately for you, III is the best looking of the set. Have you seen these reviews ? http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Godfather-Collection-Blu-ray/1003/#Review http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/1613/godfathercollection.html Comparisons with the Coppola Restoration DVD http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompare/godfather.htm
dafman1553552676 Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Thanks. Have read the reviews and it looks like it is worth the upgrade. I checked prices around wellington today - Parsons book store $100, JB Hi Fi $135, Whitcoulls $149(!). Amazon UK $67 (including postage!) - so looks like another internet order!
