I've had so many upgrades in the last year (speakers, cables, tube dac, steel/granite support to wood) and so little free time that I have really ignored the rules of hifi upgradeitis laws - namely section 2/ii/b "after any change, allow for time to compare against the old and new."

So I was rather disappointed, but not disheartened, to hear some cds sound a little bright, with a weird gap between bass and mids.

Thankfully, while I spent a weekend away the missus listened to cds and burnt in the dac. Convinced things sounded more whiskey and less vodka, I stripped the 782's of their spikes, put good use to the 20kg slabs of polished granite that had been resting unmolested in the study, and mounted the missions on top with some small rubber squares between the bases and the granite.

Eureka. Pics soon.
